Can There Be a Positive Side for High Fuel Prices?
Posted by Main Blog on Sunday, September 21st, 2008
Is this really possible you may be asking yourself. Well, actually the answer is yes. High fuel prices are not fun by any means. We all deal with this on a daily basis. Is there another way to look at this problem in a positive light? I think so. Maybe you will think so too after reading my blog.
For instance, hotels are offering lower rates and gas cards to help with the expense of travel. Even some luxury hotels are offering these deals. The longer the fuel prices stay high, hotels will have no choice but to lower rates to attract business. This can be a boon to bargain hunters. The longer you can wait to book, the better the rate most likely as fuel shortages and prices increase.

Rental cars are another bargain if you know how to approach it. Right now, small fuel efficient cars are in demand for rentals. This surge in demand makes the price for renting the smaller cars go up. This makes the larger cars and suvs actually cost less than the compact cars. Check the prices on the car rental sites then go to Hotwire or Priceline and bid a bit lower for the larger vehicle. Chances are you will get your bid.

Airfare is still a good deal especially when you take into consideration the increasing costs of fuel. But, do not let the airlines name their prices. Know when to walk away. If we do not buy tickets that are too high, something will have to give. Consumers can say no to high prices. Maybe we can get some airfare wars going.
If nothing else, this will make people think more about our limited natural resources and not be so wasteful. People will get back to the basics and stop doing things that are not necessary. The increase in bike riding and walking to conserve fuel will make us more healthy. Higher fuels prices will also make us look to other energy sources much more quickly than before.
All in all, high fuel prices also can bring about some much needed changes in our current lifestyles of wasting resources and a lack of exercise.

Hopefully we can keep a positive outlook if we look at the lemons life gives us and make lemonade.
