Standing Room Only ER

We got a little bit of rain today, and the emergency room has been PACKED with patients & family all afternoon due to multiple car wrecks all over the city. Do people just forget how to drive since it has been over a month since we had rain? What’s up with these folks? It is so bad that the main hospital downtown has been on divert all afternoon and evening which means our tiny little hospital is getting all the ambulances and patients now.
There is about a 4 hour wait in our ER waiting room still. This is the first time I have had a chance to get a drink of water and actually sit for a couple of minutes since clocking in 6 hours ago. It is insane, and I am worn out with 6 hours still to go. I hate nights like this.
I will be so glad when 7am gets here so I can go home and get some much needed sleep!
