Birthdays

Posted by Main Blog on Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Isn’t it funny how children do not understand why parents are not thrilled when our birthdays roll around? I explained to my daughter who will soon be 9, parents do not as a rule have parties or get a lot of gifts.  Most of the time we have to work on our birthday and it is nothing special.  It also means we are a year older.  She thinks I should have a birthday party each year just like she does.  If life was only that simple again.

As my birthday approaches tomorrow, I think of my time here on earth – accomplishments, failures, and the wisdom gained from each.  Many times I wish I could just freeze time for about 10 years just as we are now to have time to savor life as it is.  Unfortunately that is not possible.   The older I get, the faster time goes.

My daughter’s birthday is 5 days from mine.  We have her party all planned, and she is very excited.

Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away.  This year has really gone quickly.  Christmas is a mere 41 days away.  Then it will be 2009.

I just hope I am able to get the weekend off to relax and celebrate a bit.  :)
