Christmas Shopping

Posted by Main Blog on Thursday, November 13th, 2008

One good thing about working 3rd shift is that I can do most all of my Christmas shopping while I am at work without fear of my kids finding out what they are getting.

I am one of those people who like to have everyone bought for by the end of November, that way I can relax through December.  I do not like the crowded malls and department stores.  I am not a fan of long lines and cranky shoppers.

I much prefer to search and compare products and prices from the convenience of an easy chair and a nice cold drink.  This year as I have mentioned before, we are going to be focusing more on the important things of this season:  Jesus, family, friends, and things to be thankful for.

We did go out shopping at Wal-Mart earlier this week for canned goods for the needy familes my children’s schools are providing for.  I let them decide what they thought the family would want for their Thanksgiving dinner.  It was fun to watch them pick out the vegetables and canned meats they thought the family would like.  They had a good time doing it too.

There is also The Shoebox Project of the Samaritan’s Purse
gifts that our church and their schools do for needy children.  This is a lot of fun too, because you fill a shoebox with gifts for the children for Christmas.  We will do that this weekend most likely.  So, I am not totally out of the stores this time of year.

It is always nice to think of others during this season.  :)
