Since my last posting, I have gotten some great responses to my situation with my mom.  I really appreciate all who have made suggestions and/or gave support.

However, a comment posted by a reader has been the most helpful of all.  It has given me a much needed new perspective on the situation.  God answered my prayers for insight as to how to make the best of our situation and Patty was God’s instrument.  Thank you for taking the time to write such a helpful note to me.

Sometimes you cannot see the forrest for the trees.  I really like how she said that it was important to set some goals and to begin the process with a private family meeting — a team meeting so to speak.  This will definitely help to keep our eye on the same goal, taking care of mom / Gigi.  Brainstorming will be a great way to come up with ideas.

As Patty reminded me, a positive attitude based on love can make all of the difference in the world on how we take care of mom the way she has cared for us over the years.  With God’s strength, we can do this task He’s given us the way Jesus would do it.  I need to remind myself more often in this situation, “What would Jesus do?” before I react/respond.

As she reminded me, attitude is 99% of life.  Every choice or decision is a test from God as to how I respond or react.  I need to keep this in mind as things are tossed in my path.  Also, my kids are watching how I respond to each issue.  I do want to treat my mom with the utmost dignity and respect because she deserves it and God commands it.

As she also reminded me, I need to spend more time on my knees instead of griping and complaining.  It is wonderful how God uses people to send messages to us.  My husband said some similar things this evening when we spoke on the phone.  He has been very frustrated too.  God has been using him to speak to me a lot lately.  I just need to be quiet and LISTEN.

I do usually live life with a gusto and need to continue doing so.  I will really work on my attitude and definitely keep my sense of humor sharp.

My husband and I are going to take daily walks to catch up on things and to have time to talk privately.  This will help reduce our stress, give us some much needed exercise, and give us quality time together.

Thanks again Patty!!
