Why is it that those of us on third shift always get screwed? Whenever a new procedure is implemented, it never works correctly for third shift.  There is never anyone to ask because it is third shift.

For instance, I am a x-ray tech and when I do CTs I have to get them read.  Naturally no radiologist is staffed for third shift so it has to be outsourced.  The first thing we used worked great and was costly.  So, they moved to another source Virtual Radiologic which worked great for me and was easy to use.  Now, in order to cut costs, they have moved to yet a third type of outsourcing called MedWeb. 

I have this long drawn out paper on how to do the procedure to send the CTs electronically through PACS to MedWeb.  I followed the procedure to a T and was able to see that the study had arrived on the webpage.  It sat there for over an hour.  I called the physcian at 04:30 am to see why it had not been read only to have him tell me that he was not using MedWeb.  He uses PACS to read which is where the images are to begin with.  What the heck?!! Geez.  No one ever knows what is going on.
