Some foods can actually act as an appetite suppressant. Overeating and eating the wrong types of food are the main reasons that we gain weight. Finding foods that actually suppress your appetite will help you keep extra weight off while improving the way that you feel.
Step 1 - Eat an apple a day, not only to keep the doctor away, but also to keep those hungry feelings away. It is proven that apples are high in fiber, anti-inflammatory in nature and since they require more chewing, they give your body the idea that you are less hungry.
*Step 2 - Make a salad before your meals to encourage an appetite suppression effect. It doesn’t have to be a big salad, just a small one will be efficient in making you feel less hungry while eating your meal. All types of greens including cabbage, endives and spinach are excellent foods to suppress your appetite.
* Step 3 – Curb your cravings with pine nuts. Of all other nuts and seeds, pine nuts contain the most protein and contain an appetite suppressing pinolenic acid that naturally curbs hunger. The effect is given because of the polyunsaturated fat occurrances in pine nuts that give you a full feeling.
* Step 4 – Toss some flaxseed into your food for appetite control. Flaxseed oil has an excellent source of omega-3 and just an ounce of flaxseed gives approximately eight grams of fiber. They have also been studied to have a positive impact on lowering your cholesterol and preventing cancer. You can put them into salads or sprinkle on vegetables to suppress your appetite.
